Bergrede betekenis
De bergrede is een deel van het Evangelie volgens Matteüs hoofdstuk 5 tot en met 7 in het Nieuwe Testament, waarin Jezus zijn leer verkondigde. Jezus legde zijn leerlingen die hem naar de berg waren gevolgd een nieuwe interpretatie van de in de Thora geopenbaarde wil van God uit. De Bergrede geeft een diepgaand inzicht in wat het betekent om een discipel van Jezus te zijn. Het roept op tot een rechtvaardigheid die zowel in daden als in het hart zit, en benadrukt een leven van integriteit, mededogen en afhankelijkheid van God.
